Hoover Helps wants to recognize and thank two special groups that helped 30 Hoover families over the holidays.
Hoover Primary Care, offices of Jody Gilstrap M.D. and Dorothy Hughes M.D., collected non-perishable food items that were delivered to 30 families in Hoover for the Thanksgiving holiday. The staff, with support of Baptist Health Centers Hoover, collected food from Target that was packed into boxes and then delivered to local families prior to Thanksgiving. Donations from Drs. Gilstrap and Hughes helped provide a holiday ham or turkey to the families as well.
In addition, the Hoover Cheer program conducted a food drive to help provide boxes of food for Hoover families over the Christmas break. In a short period of time, they collected non-perishable food items valued at over $1,000 that were packed into boxes and delivered to local families. Meri-Glenn Freeman, the head coach and coordinator for the Hoover Cheer Program helped support the project and was very proud of the team for their commitment to families in our community.
“This project was a great opportunity to get our team involved and give back to the community. I’m very proud of our team for pulling together and helping Hoover families in need.”
There are many people in our community that want to support those in need. A special thanks to both groups for making a huge difference over the holidays!
